Fault analysis in multi-phase power systems considering symmetrical components and phase coordinates methods
(Batman Üniversitesi, 2019-05-23) Göklap, Erdin; Tercan, Said Mirza
In this study, fault calculations in multi-phase power system (MPPS) are examined. Three-phase power system (3-PPS) and twelve-phase power system (12-PPS) are modelled. It includes modeling of 12-PPS components such as generator, transformer, and line. In order to analyze faults in MPPS, symmetrical components method is used. Load flow analysis in MPPS is made by using phase coordinates method. Proposed fault calculation method for different types of faults such as single line, single line to ground, two line to ground, etc. are provided. Fault calculations were done for all possible faults in 12-PPS. All symmetrical and asymmetrical fault currents in 12-PPS were calculated and listed. The fault location and type compared with other different locations and types of faults in 12-PPS. In addition, 3-PPS fault currents compared with MPPS examined in this study.

Implementation of the network-based moving sliding mode control algorithm to the rotary inverted pendulum system
(Batman Üniversitesi, 2019-05-23) Aydın, Muhammet; Yakut, Oğuz; Tutumlu, Hakan
In this study, the most preferred in control applications rotary inverted pendulum system (rip) is dealt. The coordinates of the center of gravity of the rip elements were found and the total kinetic and potential energies of the system were obtained. Lagrange function has been formed by using kinetic and potential energy expressions. Expressions giving the equations of motion of the system have been found by taking into consideration the Lagrange method. Using the state variables, the pendulum angle of the system has been controlled by the moving sliding mode control method via the program written in Matlab. The slope of the sliding surface is calculated by artificial neural networks. Optimum values of weight and bias coefficients of artificial neural networks are found by using the genetic algorithm. From the results, it has been seen that the pendulum angle reaches to about 25 Nm motor torque and the reference value reaches about 3 seconds and the error is about zero.

Life-cycle environmental footprint analysis of electricity generation technologies
(Batman Üniversitesi, 2019-05-23) Balo, Figen; S.Sua, Lutfu
Increasing urbanization and global population, in addition to huge economic and industrial developments have jointly led to raised consumption of electrical. With the rise in fossil-based fuel costs and the environmental awareness to decrease greenhouse gas emissions there is an increasing requirement to alter away from CO2 emission creating fossilbased fuels to new renewable power resources for electrical generation. By using Life Cycle Assessment, this paper’s scope is to compare and evaluation the chosen environmental effects associated with the electrical generation of the sustainable and the fossil-based system. In this paper, the environmental footprint that obtains from the diverse energy sources’ exploitation/use, either renewable or conventional/fossil in the electrical generation industry, is analyzed. Analysis of the electrical energy generation sectors depended on diverse factors include a potency ecological effect categories’ wide vary. Thus, the energy sources’ diverse life cycle stages used in electrical generation are investigated. The pairwise comparison is presented for the needed data’ derivation. For each of criteria, these comparison is applied for deriving weights of criteria’ significance and alternatives’ relative rankings. Each technology’s ecological effect according to all factors are calculated. Finally, the ecofriendliest and the most environmentally damage technologies are determined.

Investigation of the effect of stator and rotor pole ratios on torque and efficiency in inverted switched reluctance motor
(Batman Üniversitesi, 2019-05-23) Yıldız, Ahmet; Polat, Mehmet
In this study, the effect of rotor pole ratio coefficient and stator pole ratio coefficient on torque and efficiency in 18/12 pole 3 phase Inverted Switched Reluctance Motor have been investigated. For this purpose, dimension, electrical and magnetic parameters of 18/12 pole 3-phase Inverted Switched Reluctance Motor have been determined. These parameters were obtained in our previous study by the heuristic optimization method according to the determined motor characteristics (efficiency, torque, etc.). The other dimensions of motor have been kept constant and the effect of rotor pole ratio coefficient and stator pole ratio coefficient on the torque and efficiency have been determined according to the fixed and calculated total ampere-turns values. As a result of the analyzes performed in MATLAB, it has been observed that there have certain relationships between these coefficients and torque-efficiency. However, since the effects of rotor pole ratio coefficient and stator pole ratio coefficient on torque and efficiency are not exactly linear, it can seen that these coefficients will be considered as optimization problems in future studies and optimization of these coefficients will be beneficial in terms of motor performance.

Predicting factors affecting PISA 2015 mathematics literacy via radial basis function artificial neural network
(Batman Üniversitesi, 2019-05-23) Güre Bezek, Özlem; Kayri, Murat; Erdoğan, Fevzi
In this study, radial basis function artificial neural network (RBFN), which is one of the of data mining methods, was employed to determine the factors affecting PISA 2015 (Programme for International Student Assessment - PISA), Mathematics literacy. Mathematics literacy scores, which were made in categorical form with three level dependent variables, 25 independent variables, and considered to have affected the dependent variables, were employed in evaluating and validating the proposed method. Also, in order to determine factors affecting PISA 2015 Mathematics literacy, information obtained from a total of 4422 students (2165 (49%) of whom were males and 2257 (51%) of whom were females) who participated the exam was used. According to the obtained results, the correct classification rate of mathematics achievement in the radial based artificial neural network model was found to be 85.2%. In addition, it is seen that the most important factor that were affecting Mathematics literacy was Turkish language success status and the other variables that were setting significance are targeted point in school life, father education level and mother education level.
