Öğe Examining vowels' formant frequency shifts caused by preceding consonants for Turkish Language(Batman Üniversitesi, 2018-12-28) Korkmaz, Yunus; Boyacı, AytuğFormant frequency of vowels in a language is considered as one of the important acoustical parameter of speech signal. This parameter can be seen as acoustic resonance of human vocal tract. Although formant frequencies which is changeable across genders, age, and languages have been studied for various purposes by many researchers in some languages, alteration effects of stop consonants on adjacent vowels hasn’t been worked yet for Turkish language. In this study, formant frequency values (F1, F2 and F3) of eight isolated vowels (/a/, /e/, /ı/, /i/, /o/, /ö/, /u/, /ü/) have been compared to formant frequency values of vowels that come after any stop consonant (/p/, /t/, /k/, /b/, /d/, /g/) to detect any changes caused by stop consonants in formant frequencies. Totally 48 meaningful Turkish syllables (combinations of all stop consonants and all vowels) and 8 isolated vowels have been uttered by 10 male speakers three times repeatedly for each unit. At the end of this study, the plosive stop consonants /p/ and /g/ among others have been found as the ones having most alteration effects on F1 value of adjacent vowel /a/ in a CVC-context syllable. F2 of isolated vowel /a/ has been shifted up with /k/ and /g/ visibly. Also, F3 of /a/ has been shifted down by approximately 150 Hz with the same plossive stop consonants /k/ and /g/. These findings can help researchers studying on formant frequencies of vowels in Turkish language in order to specify right syllables to deal withÖğe The hydrothermal synthesis of ZnO-CdO composite and physical and electrical characterization(Batman Üniversitesi, 2018-12-28) Aksu Canbay,Canan; Jameel Biro, Safiye; Özkul, İskenderIn this study, ZnO-CdO composites were synthesized by hydrothermal method. Two different contents of the nano-composites have been fabricated for the investigation of structural, morphological, optical and electrical properties. X-ray diffraction (XRD), FTIR, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometer and two probe methods were used for these analyses. At the same time, the chemical analysis of the sample was measured by EDX analysis. The TG-DTA analyses were made to determine the thermal stability. The optical band gap of composites was found to be 2.78 and 3.06 eV, respectively, with an increase in the content of the Zn precursor.Öğe Ecologic impact analysis of construction materials(Batman Üniversitesi, 2018-12-28) Balo, Figen; S.Sua, LutfuThis research’s purpose is to assess the ecological effect produced by the building materials, by means of the ecological impact analysis implementation. The study aims to investigate the ecological impact of the main construction materials based on various criteria exist in the literature. The effect of eight different fundamental construction materials (glass, shingles, ceramics, iron-steel, wood, concrete, copper, aluminum) on the environment is of big concern and environmentally conscious designed constructions are essentially demanded. By considering the construction materials’ nine different environmental impacts (photochemical oxidation, terrestrial eco-toxicity, freshwater aquatic eco-toxicity, human toxicity, stratospheric ozone depletion, climate change, water demand, global warming potential, primary energy demand) and two other physical properties (density, thermal conductivity), a comparison between the alternatives is presented based on the mentioned criteria. Finally, the ecofriendliest construction material based on the criteria is determined.Öğe Solution methods and recommendations for power quality analysis in power systems(Batman Üniversitesi, 2018-12-28) Tür, Mehmet RidaPower quality means to maintain or compensate the nominal size and frequency of the near sinusoidal nominal voltage and current of the power system. As an undesirable condition in the power quality, the energy loss leads to a decrease in the efficiency of the system and the failure in sustainability in energy. In most cases, the control of the power quality means that the voltage is controlled, ie, the frequency balance. This is because in most cases the tension can be more easily controlled from the current. More specifically, power quality can be explained by some parameters such as continuity of service, change of voltage magnitude in transient voltages and currents, and harmonic content. To define the importance of power quality problems, we can say that poor power quality leads to unnecessary power and economic waste. This also directly affects the risk of reliability in energy. In addition, it creates a financial burden for suppliers and consumers. Unstable voltage and frequency often create problems with the power flow in the transmission line. Several methods are used to solve basic power quality problems. In this study, energy quality solution methods, especially reserve requirements, have been examined and solution suggestions are presented.Öğe Twitter users’ emotion, emoticons and scaling metrics based categoric interaction analysis(Batman Üniversitesi, 2018-12-28) İş, Hafzullah; Tuncer, TanerThe popularity and use of social networks has also begun to increase in parallel with the worldwide increasing accessibility and means of access to the Internet. As one of the world's most popular social networks, Twitter is a platform where users are interacting through follow-up, sharing, messaging and appreciation tools, sharing their ideas and emotions in a variety of individual and corporate contexts. Therefore, Twitter is intense, dynamic and always an up-to-date data source. Identifying and correlating the physical and emotional interaction of users can be valuable in political, social, academic and commercial aspects. Users' physical networking with each other and emotional analysis can be done with many tools and applications. The character, tendency and impact analysis of the users can be used in the development of business intelligence applications and in the determination of social strategies. In this study, a large Twitter user group is divided into four categories: political, Entertainment, Sports, Trade Marks. Then, the physical and emotional interaction of each category was revealed. The Physical interaction metrics determined as centrality, intensity, reciprocity and modularity while emotional interaction metrics were determined as resistance, passion, reach and emotionality. Positive, negative and neutral states of sharing were discussed in emotional measurement. Beside that, emoji-containing tweets have been transformed into texts and are especially included in emotion analysis. After all the metrics were calculated, physical and emotional interaction structures and overlap rates were revealed using "Interaction and Semantic Clustering Based Multinetwork Analysis" method
