In recent years, several countries are turning to renewable energy as a remedy to meet increasing energy being the facts that fossil fuels are exhaustible and have environmental effects. In this case, the best use of the existing energy potential can reduce the energy dependence of countries to a lesser extent. Since fluctuations in energy production and consumption can be observed with sharp decreases and increases, energy storage can ensure adequate and regular energy supply at times when energy consumption is at a peak level. Pump-Storage Hydroelectric Power Plants (PDHES) are accepted both energy storage systems and renewables, yet there have not been built in Turkey. On the other hand 97% of the energy storage systems worldwide are PDHES power plants. Although it is claimed that pumped hydroelectric power plants increase the security of supply in energy and are an environmentally friendly type of energy storage, their ability to provide cost advantage depends on the electricity prices that change during the day. For this reason, a computer program that can quickly perform the preliminary design of a technically suitable power plant with current energy prices and analyze the benefit and cost will enable the decision makers to make a rapid transition to the realization phase of the project. For this reason, a program called STAP has been developed to assist in the hydraulic and economic design of pumped storage hydroelectric power plants. Verification of the program was made by using Aslantaş PDHES data, which was planned before, and analyzes were carried out according to different electricity consumption tariffs.
