Özet

In this experimental study, the influence of the wire electrode diameter, coated and uncoated wire electrodes on the cutting speed, which is an important parameter in evaluating the machine performance in CNC wire electrode discharge technology, was investigated. Coated and uncoated wire electrodes of 0,25 and 0,30 mm in diameter were used for the cutting speed tests, on the other hand, AISI D2 and AISI 304 stainless steels as workpiece materials and two different types of cooling methods were utilized. Cutting speed values obtained with 0,30 mm diameter wire electrodes were found to be higher than those obtained with 0.25 mm diameter wire electrodes. Depending on the type of coated and uncoated wire electrode type, the lowest cutting speeds were achieved with uncoated wire electrodes, while the highest cutting speeds were obtained with coated wire electrodes. The cutting speeds obtained by the submerged cooling method were found to be higher than those obtained by the flushing cooling method
