Öğe Sakızlı Ohannes Pasha, one of the first art history teachers, and his work entitled " fûnun-ı nefise tarihi medhali -introductıon to the history of fine arts": evaluations on the "sculpture department" on the artwork(Babil Yayınevi, 2021-05) Uzun Aydın, DeryaThis work has been tried to be generated with the aim of analyzing Sakızlı Ohannes Pasha who is accepted as one of the first history teachers and the book named “Fûnun-ı Nefise Tarihi MedhaliIntroduction to the history of the fine arts”. The primary aim of this work is not to discuss that this book is really an aesthetics book, as most people agree. In fact, an original copy of this book was examined and considered that this was demonstrated as of the first pages of the book. Furthermore, although it comprises of Sakızlı’s lecture notes, many premises and opinions incidental to aestheticts and fine arts are discoursed. However, as well in this book with the exception of the painting and architecture part that can be took part in an art history book, it approaches a comparative part of sculpture from ancient times and civilizations (such as Greek and Egypt). This is another point that gathers are carefullness, and within this context, it has been attempted to propound the differences and similatiries are connected to the history of sculpture art in similar Works that have come until today. In the Ottoman Empire, in particular the second Abdulhamid period is an significant process, with the opening many schools, the education life was reactivated. Everybody witnessed to this. Within this context, the most significant step for fine arts has been come through with opening “Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi”. In this school (1883) painting, architecture engravement or sculpture were interlocked with education and common courses were also conducted between departments. At this juncture, it was confirmed that history and art history lessons were given. Among resources, we come across the names of different teachers of this course at the least. In some resources, The name of “Aristoklif Efendi” is included as the first art history teacher, but most of the resources claim the name of “Sakızlı Ohannes Pasha”. Both names are also come across in some resources. But in art history, Mehmet Vahid’s name is very common and significant in terms of education. However, although the name of Sakızlı Ohannes is rarely come across, he has a great significance in art history.
