Kendini gerçekleştir-me adına çıktığı seyahat boyunca kahraman, uğradığı her mekânda onun ruhundan beslenerek kendi özünü tahkim etme fırsatı yakalar.
In the adventure of life, people need a place for needs such as shelter, protection, rest, enterta-inment and production. This need creates an interwined and complementary network of relationships between people and place. However, this network of relationships is more than just a shelter, it is a me-mory that hosts life as well, and bears witness to every moment of life. In this respect, place functions to host and preserve life and experiences, and surrounds the individual by taking on religious, social, cultural and political identities. It has a significant impact and share in identity construction process in his life adventure. This relationship established between people and place is also a significant component of the narrative world in that place constitutes the basis for the event to occur in fictional texts. In literary texts about man's search for himself, the place becomes a womb for the hero and turns into a shelter. Throug-hout his journey to self-realization, the hero gets the opportunity to strengthen his own essence by nouris-hing himself with spirit of every place he visits. In this sense, this relationship is bidirectional and just as humans shape the place, the place also enables humans to complete their existential quest. Places that are mentioned in the 14th-century poet Ahmadi’s work called Iskandarnama (Book of Alexander), which has a predominant mythological aspect, played a significant role in spiritual jour-ney of Alexander, who is one of the great figures that shaped history, who was separated from his histo-rical context and transformed into a mythical figure in the mathnawi, in that they helped him discover the treasure of self and realize the purpose of existence, and these places constitute a basis for this study. The spaces identified in the mathnawi have been tried to be classified and explained in accordance with their open and closed status, depending on the physical image they reflect, as well as their initiatory functions. In addition, whether these spaces are perceptually open or closed is also stated.
