Modern sivil teknik eğitimin gelişiminde önemli bir dönüm noktası olan sanayi mekteplerinin tarihsel gelişimi
Mithat Paşa’nın 1863 yılında Niş’te hayata geçirmiş olduğu Islahhane ile başlamıştır. Bir plan dâhilinde yürütülmeyen ve
bu yüzden istenilen verimin alınamadığı ıslahhaneler Sultan II. Abdülhamit’in tahta çıkışının 25. yıldönümü münasebetiyle
Hamidiye Sanayi Mektepleri adı ile dönüşüme uğramıştır. Adana’daki ıslahhane de bu dönüşüm üzerine 22 Ağustos 1900
tarihinde Adana Hamidiye Sanayi Mektebi olarak eğitim faaliyetlerine devam etmiştir.
Adana Sanayi Mektebi faaliyetlerini; vilayet bütçesinden aktarılan ödenekler, şehirdeki hayırseverlerin yardımları,
piyango çekilişleri, mektebe yardım için alınan vergiler ve konut tahsisleri ile elden edilen gelirlerle sürdürmüştür. Verilen
nitelikli eğitim ve idarecilerin üstün gayretleri neticesinde mektep kısa sürede ilgi odağı haline gelmiştir. Bunun yanında;
mektep faaliyetlerinin sürdürülmesi için elde edilen gelirlerle birlikte Adana esnaf ve çiftçisinin yaptırdığı işler nedeniyle
mektep idarecileri önemli bir bütçeyi kontrol etmişlerdir. Adana Sanayi Mektebi’nin saygın bir eğitim kurumu olmasının
yanında hükmettiği bütçe nedeniyle kuruluşundan itibaren okul yönetimini elde bulundurmak isteyen grupların da ortaya
çıkmasına neden olmuştur.
Bu çalışmanın amacı; Adana Sanayi Mektebi’nin tarihsel gelişimini ve Adana Sanayi Mektebi üzerindeki hâkimiyet
mücadelesini ortaya koymaktır
The historical development of industrial schools, which played an important role in the development of modern civilian technical education, started with the reformatory founded by Mithat Pasha in city of Nis in 1863. The reformatories which hadn’t been carried out within a plan and therefore the desired efficiency could not be obtained so they were transformed under the name of Hamidiye industrial schools on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Sultan Abdülhamit's throne. Because of that transformation, the reformatory in Adana continued its educational activities under the name of Adana Hamidiye Industrial School starting from August 22, 1900. Adana Industrial School continued its activities with grants from the provincial budget, charitable giving from the city, lottery draws, rental incomes, taxes and aid allocated to the school. As a result of the qualified education and superior efforts of the administrators, the school became a focus of interest in a short time. In addition to this, together with the revenues obtained for school activities, the school administrators controlled an important budget due to the work done by tradesmen and farmers of Adana. Both being a respected educational institution and having a good income, Adana Industrial School caused the emergence of groups that desired to obtain management of the school since its establishment The aim of this study is to reveal the historical development of Adana Industrial School and the authority struggle over Adana Industrial School.
