    Spatial, social and environmental effects of forced displacement due to dam construction: The case of Hasankeyf

    To meet the growing power and irrigation needs in the world and Turkey, to prevent terrorism, and due to sovereignty concerns on water management, recently dams have been frequently built, and the locations of villages, towns or cities within the areas covered by the dams built or being built are changing. Spatial changes made for compulsory reasons reveal many socio-economic, cultural and environmental problems and related discussions. This study aims to address the social, spatial and environmental impacts of the people of Hasankeyf, who have been living in thousands of caves and historical artifacts for thousands of years, as a result of their forced migration to the New Hasankeyf campus due to the Ilısu Dam and hydroelectric power plant built as a result of a public policy. In this field study, an interview were realized with 214 family members selecting randomly among 734 families who moved to New Hasankeyf, and the findings were obtained via this study were interpreted by making descriptive and relational analyzes. From the data obtained; It was determined that the families who settled in New Hasankeyf were against the dam since the beginning of the project, they were not consulted for the dam construction and the new campus, they lost their income due to the damaging of tourism sector, the destruction of agricultural areas.

    Hasankeyf İmam Abdullah Camii ve Zaviyesi Vakfı (16-18. yüzyıllar)

    İnsanlığın yerleşik hayata geçişiyle başlayan medeniyet sürecinin en önemli uzantısı olan şehirler, tarih boyunca ihtiyaçlara bağlı olarak gelişen çeşitli mekânların oluşturduğu yerleşim yerleridir. Bu mekânlar, şehirde bir arada yaşayan toplumun sosyal, ekonomik, dini ve kültürel ihtiyaçlarını karşılamaya yönelik yapılardır. Osmanlı şehirlerinin hem siluetinin hem de mimarisinin oluşmasında önemli yeri olan bu yapılar, genellikle vakıf anlayışıyla oluşturulmuş ve sürdürülmüştür. Vakıf anlayışı, şehrin temel birimi olan mahallelerde görülen ahengin, dayanışma ve yardımlaşmanın da temelini oluşturmaktadır. Bir Osmanlı şehrinde vakıf kurumunun somut tezahürlerinden olan cami ve zaviye gibi yapılar, toplumun sosyal ve kültürel olarak ilişki içerisinde olmasına ve gelişmesine katkı sağlamaktaydı. Bu çalışmada, Osmanlı arşiv belgelerine dayanarak Hasankeyf şehrinin sosyal dokusunun gelişmesine ve gündelik hayatın dinamizmine çok büyük katkı sağlayan İmam Abdullah Camii ve Zaviyesi tanıtılmıştır. Ayrıca bir yapılar topluluğu olan bu vakfın işleyişi, gelir ve gider kalemleriyle, içerisinde çalışan personelin aldıkları ücretlerden bahsedilmiştir.

    Archaeometric review of the tile decorations in Hasankeyf Zeynel Bey Tomb with P-EDXRF

    Tile is known as a handicraft based on the production of items such as vases, jugs and pots by shaping the soil after cooking. It is defined as the covering material processed with colorful décor and motifs used in the decoration of items such as tiles, ceramics, porcelain plates and china making in the goods processed with the help of this material. In this study, 7 Light Blue Glaze, 7 Navy Blue Glaze and 8 Unglazed Tile belonging to Zeynel Bey Tomb, a total of 22 tiles were analyzed in Hasankeyf Cultural Park where the tomb was moved with P-EDXRF. As a result; The chemical contents of the 22 samples we examined on site were determined and compared with the previous studies. It was determined that the results obtained were compatible.
