Öğe Effect of temperature, force, and vibration on fatigue strength of friction stir-welded AA7075 aluminum alloy joints(SpringerLink, 2021-01-04) Çelik, Yahya Hışman; Kılıçkap, Erol; Çetkin, EdipIn this study, the AA7075 alloy pairs were welded by friction stir welding method by using conical- and triangular-type stirrer pins. Welding forces and moments, vibration, and temperature values have been measured during the jointing depending on the welding parameters. Finally, microstructures were examined and mechanical tests were carried out. Results obtained from the experiments revealed that at low spindle speed and welding feed rates, the temperatures formed on the surface of the alloy pair were high, the vibrations were low, and the welding force and moments were partially high. When the microstructures of the welded areas are examined, it was determined that the conical mixing pin has a better microstructure than the triangular mixing pin. In addition, it was determined that the mechanical properties of welded joints having a good microstructure were quite good. As a result, it was observed that forces during welding, temperature of welding, and vibration values have an effect on microstructure and mechanical properties.Öğe Experimental determination of the static and fatigue strength of theadhesive joints bonded by epoxy adhesive including different particles(Elsevier, 2018-12) Adin, Hamit; Saraç, İsmail; Temiz, ŞemsettinBecause of their many advantages, adhesively bonded joints are intensively used in many engineeringfields. So,the mechanical research of the adhesively bonded joints is very important to use these joints safely. There aremany studies performed by researchers to investigate the mechanical properties of the adhesive joints. There hasbeen a considerable interest in nanoparticles added to structural adhesives recently because nanoparticles im-prove the mechanical properties of adhesives and joints. In this paper, different nanoparticles reinforced byepoxy adhesive, and neat adhesive were used to produce single lap joints. The static and fatigue strengths ofsingle lap joints incorporating nanoparticles were compared to those without nanoparticles. Experiments wereperformed at 20 mm overlap length. DP460 epoxy was used as the adhesive material, and nano-Al2O3, nano-TiO2and nano-SiO2were used as the nanoparticles; and AISI 304 stainless steel plates were used as the adherents. Theresults of the experimental research revealed that average failure load increased significantly in nanoparticle-reinforced adhesive joints. The highest average failure load was obtained with 4 wt% nano-Al2O3in epoxyadhesive. Fatigue tests were performed at 10 Hz frequency, and 0.1 loading ratio (R). When the fatigue testresults were examined, it was observed that the addition of the nano-Al2O3and nano-SiO2to the adhesiveincreased fatigue strength of the adhesive joints, on the other hand, the addition of the nano-TiO2to the adhesivereduced fatigue strength of the adhesive joints.Öğe Numerical investigation of fatigue behaviors of non-patched and patched aluminum pipes(Hibetullah KILIÇ, 2021-06-01) Adin, Hamit; Yıldız, Bilal; Adin, Mehmet ŞükrüIn this study, the fatigue behaviors of non-patched and patched aluminum pipes were investigated numerically. The Finite Element Method was used for fatigue analysis in the study. Finite Element Method was implemented with Ansys Workbench (15.0) program. Al 6063 type aluminum pipe, DP-460 type adhesive and [0/90]2 reinforced angled glass-epoxy composite patch material were used in the analyzes. As a result of the numerical study, it was observed that patch size is an effective parameter in fatigue strength and that quarter-circle and semi-circular composite patches increase the fatigue life. It was also observed in the analyzes that the quarter-circle patched aluminum pipes achieved higher fatigue strength.Öğe Fatigue behavior of honeycomb sandwich composites under flexural and buckling loading(INCDTP - Leather and Footwear Research Institute (ICPI), 2016) Topkaya, Tolga; Solmaz, Murat YavuzThis study experimentally investigated the fatigue behaviors of honeycomb-sandwich composites under buckling and three-point bending loads. The ASTM C 365 and ASTM C 393 standards were used as references to prepare test specimens and conduct experiments. The investigation looked at how the cell diameter, core thickness and thickness of the skin material affected the fatigue behavior. It was observed that the most significant parameter affecting fatigue under buckling loads was the cell diameter, and the least significant parameter affecting fatigue under three-point loads was the thickness of the skin material.
