| dc.description.abstract | Bu çalışmada, James Joyce’un “Kız Kardeşler [The Sisters]” adlı kısa hikâyesinin iki ayrı çevirisinde çevirmenlerin kültürel öğeleri çevirirken yararlandıkları stratejiler incelenmiştir. Amaç, çevirmenlerin aynı esere yaklaşımının ne ölçüde değiştiğini ve hangi durumlarda ne tür stratejiler kullandıklarını saptamaktır. Türkçe çeviriler karşılaştırmalı olarak incelenmiş, çevirmenlerin kaynak metin ile hedef metne yaklaşımları kullandıkları stratejilerden yola çıkılarak tespit edilmiştir. Çevirilerden biri Murat Belge tarafından 1987 yılında, diğeri ise kitabın basımının yüzüncü yılı dolayısıyla 2015 yılında Merve Tokmakçıoğlu tarafından yapılmıştır. Çalışmada, çevirmenlerin kültürel öğeleri çevirirken ne tür sorunlarla karşılaştığı ve kaynak metinde iletilmek istenen mesajı hedef metne hangi şekilde aktardığı Newmark’ın ve Venuti’nin kuramlarından yararlanılarak analiz edilmiştir.. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | In this study, two different Turkish translations of James Joyce’s short story “The Sisters” in Dubliners have been examined in terms of the translation of cultural elements. The purpose is to ascertain how two different translators approach the same text and what kind of strategies they use during the transfer. The Turkish translations have been analyzed comparatively, and translators’ attitude towards both the source and the target texts have been assessed with respect to the strategies they apply. One of the translations was performed by Murat Belge in 1987, while the other was carried out by Merve Tokmakçıoğlu in 2015 thanks to the centenary of the publication of Dubliners. The analysis has been carried out on the basis of Newmark’s classification and Venuti’s approach in order to determine what kind of cultural problems the translators face and how they transfer the intended message from the source text to the target text. | en_US |
