Examination of web-based PVGIS and sunny design web photovoltaic system simulation programs and assessment of reliability of the results
(Batman Üniversitesi, 2017-12-31) Haydaroğlu, Cem; Gümüş, Bilal
Due to the polluting effect of fossil fuels on environment and their exhaustible nature, investments in renewable energy resources continue to increase. In order to benefit from solar energy which is one of these energy resources, 50 GW of new power plants were installed only in 2015. Following the "regulation on unlicensed electricity generation" issued to benefit from the renewable energy potential available in Turkey, the installation of systems that generate electricity from solar energy via photovoltaic power is rapidly increasing. The use of simulation software is very important in the design and analysis of photovoltaic solar power plants. In this way, it is possible to obtain production data and conduct investment analyses before the power plant is established. Some of the simulation programs are web-based. In this study, web-based solar energy simulation programs PVGIS and Sunny Design Web were investigated and the proximity of simulation results to the actual results was studied. Dicle University Solar Power Plant was selected as the study field in order to compare the simulation results of the software. Dicle University Solar Power Plant is a photovoltaic solar power plant established and operated within the Engineering Faculty of Dicle University for introduction, education, production and analysis purposes. In the study, simulation of the 250 kWp solar power plant established in Dicle University was performed with PVGIS and Sunny Design Web software by using installation parameters and thus, one-year production values were obtained. The results of both web-based programs are compared with each other and with the actual production values from the plant.

Seasonal variation of fatty acid composition of trout (Salmo opimus)
    (Batman Üniversitesi, 2020-06-30) Turgay, Özlem
The changes of fatty acid (FAs) composition of muscle tissues of trout (Salmo opimus) caught from Fırnız and Törbüzek in the Ceyhan Basin Region were investigated by using GC. Palmitic acid and oleic acid were the most abundant FAs and significant differences (p<0.05) were observed between seasons. The composition of fatty acids showed that ω-3 poly unsaturated fatty acids (∑ω-3 PUFAs: 6.26-25.44%) were highest, followed by ω-6 (∑ω-6 PUFAs: 5.87-8.24%). The ratio of ω-3/ω6 the samples were ranged from 1.06 to 3.13%. This study showed that the level of total PUFAs (mainly n-3 and n-6 fatty acids) increased significantly during the summer and autumn period in the muscle tissue of brown trout.

Investigation of the effect of stator and rotor pole ratios on torque and efficiency in inverted switched reluctance motor
(Batman Üniversitesi, 2019-05-23) Yıldız, Ahmet; Polat, Mehmet
In this study, the effect of rotor pole ratio coefficient and stator pole ratio coefficient on torque and efficiency in 18/12 pole 3 phase Inverted Switched Reluctance Motor have been investigated. For this purpose, dimension, electrical and magnetic parameters of 18/12 pole 3-phase Inverted Switched Reluctance Motor have been determined. These parameters were obtained in our previous study by the heuristic optimization method according to the determined motor characteristics (efficiency, torque, etc.). The other dimensions of motor have been kept constant and the effect of rotor pole ratio coefficient and stator pole ratio coefficient on the torque and efficiency have been determined according to the fixed and calculated total ampere-turns values. As a result of the analyzes performed in MATLAB, it has been observed that there have certain relationships between these coefficients and torque-efficiency. However, since the effects of rotor pole ratio coefficient and stator pole ratio coefficient on torque and efficiency are not exactly linear, it can seen that these coefficients will be considered as optimization problems in future studies and optimization of these coefficients will be beneficial in terms of motor performance.

Mitigation harmonic with LCL passive filter in off-grid PV system
    (Batman Üniversitesi, 2018-06-30) Adak, Süleyman
The increased use of power electronic based devices and the nonlinear characteristics of circuit elements used in these devices have led to the formation of harmonic components in power systems. The stable and safe working of power systems depends on the foundation of quantities such as voltage and current, which are sinusoidal and at 50 Hz frequency. However, these foundation quantities lose their sinusoidal characteristics because of many reasons and unwanted harmonic components occur in the off-grid power system. It is highly preferred to use passive LCL filter to reduce the harmonic components that occur in the solar system. The proposed power system is a combination of solar panels, a DC/DC boost converters, solar inverters, six-pulse rectifiers, passive LCL filters and RL inductive loads. A six-pulse uncontrolled rectifier produces 5th, 7th, 11th, 13th, 17th, 19th, etc. Harmonic components. A passive LCL filter is used to reduce the input current of the total harmonic distortion (THDI) of an uncontrolled rectifier. According to these results, the designed passive LCL filters have a simple structure and control is not too complicated provides significant advantages and are not complicated to control, which provides significant advantages. Modelling of off-grid PV power system and simulation was performed with Matlab/Simulink. Simulation results showed that the THDI value reduced from 91.53 % to 2.927%. As a result, LCL filter improves both the system efficiency and reliability of standalone PV power systems.

Accede or not accede?: The United States and the question of joining the Baghdad-Pact
(Batman Üniversitesi, 2020-12-31) Rakipoğlu, Mehmet; Wittmann, Max
To contain Soviet influence in the world the United States had allied with many states to be able to retaliate potential communist attacks. After the founding of NATO to protect Europe and SEATO for South Asia, the Baghdad Pact was established to shield the Middle East. Its members were Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and Great Britain, just the US did not accede, despite having initiated the program and being a member of the other organizations. The paper aims to explain this American decision and shows that the United States was caught between several dilemmas and ambiguities. In the end, the negative effects of accession were seen as more serious than the positive ones and the pact was left to its fate.

Examining vowels' formant frequency shifts caused by preceding consonants for Turkish Language
(Batman Üniversitesi, 2018-12-28) Korkmaz, Yunus; Boyacı, Aytuğ
Formant frequency of vowels in a language is considered as one of the important acoustical parameter of speech signal. This parameter can be seen as acoustic resonance of human vocal tract. Although formant frequencies which is changeable across genders, age, and languages have been studied for various purposes by many researchers in some languages, alteration effects of stop consonants on adjacent vowels hasn’t been worked yet for Turkish language. In this study, formant frequency values (F1, F2 and F3) of eight isolated vowels (/a/, /e/, /ı/, /i/, /o/, /ö/, /u/, /ü/) have been compared to formant frequency values of vowels that come after any stop consonant (/p/, /t/, /k/, /b/, /d/, /g/) to detect any changes caused by stop consonants in formant frequencies. Totally 48 meaningful Turkish syllables (combinations of all stop consonants and all vowels) and 8 isolated vowels have been uttered by 10 male speakers three times repeatedly for each unit. At the end of this study, the plosive stop consonants /p/ and /g/ among others have been found as the ones having most alteration effects on F1 value of adjacent vowel /a/ in a CVC-context syllable. F2 of isolated vowel /a/ has been shifted up with /k/ and /g/ visibly. Also, F3 of /a/ has been shifted down by approximately 150 Hz with the same plossive stop consonants /k/ and /g/. These findings can help researchers studying on formant frequencies of vowels in Turkish language in order to specify right syllables to deal with

Production and areas of use of gas biofuels and optimization of bioprocess parameters affecting the production efficiency
(Batman Üniversitesi, 2018-12-27) Dursun, Nesrin; Gülşen, Hakkı
The importance of renewable energy sources is increasing day by day due to the reasons such as fossil fuel reserves being on the point of exhaustion and trying to minimize the negative effects thereof on the environment. In biogas processes, hydrogen and carbondioxide gases are released through the degradation of organic matters by acidogenic bacteria with fermentation and the conversion thereof into organic acids. In the second stage, organic acids are transformed into acetic acid, hydrogen and carbondioxide by acidogenic bacteria. While methane bacteria use the hydrogen they need, they also remove the hydrogen that affects the acidogenic bacteria negatively. Biohydrogen production processes, on the other hand, the system is processed by applying heat pretreatment to anaerobic fermentation bacteria for 20-45 mins and between 90-105 0 C. In the first stage, organic wastes with high carbohydrate ratio are degraded by heat pretreated anaerobic fermentation bacteria into organic acids, hydrogen and carbondioxide. In the second stage, the organic acids produced in the first stage are degraded to hydrogen and carbondioxide with fermentative bacteria. In this study, optimization of the bioprocess parameters affecting the production, use and production efficiency of gas biofuels is presented.

Implementation of the network-based moving sliding mode control algorithm to the rotary inverted pendulum system
(Batman Üniversitesi, 2019-05-23) Aydın, Muhammet; Yakut, Oğuz; Tutumlu, Hakan
In this study, the most preferred in control applications rotary inverted pendulum system (rip) is dealt. The coordinates of the center of gravity of the rip elements were found and the total kinetic and potential energies of the system were obtained. Lagrange function has been formed by using kinetic and potential energy expressions. Expressions giving the equations of motion of the system have been found by taking into consideration the Lagrange method. Using the state variables, the pendulum angle of the system has been controlled by the moving sliding mode control method via the program written in Matlab. The slope of the sliding surface is calculated by artificial neural networks. Optimum values of weight and bias coefficients of artificial neural networks are found by using the genetic algorithm. From the results, it has been seen that the pendulum angle reaches to about 25 Nm motor torque and the reference value reaches about 3 seconds and the error is about zero.
